Help For New Mexico’s Uninsured
In a report released in July entitled “Paying the Price,” NMPIRG found that the uninsured in Albuquerque pay 61.5 percent more for common prescription drugs than the federal government, and twice as much as they would pay for the same drugs in Canada.

Weak Regulations Proposed For Predatory Lending
In May, Gov. Richardson and Attorney General Madrid announced a compromise on payday loan regulations. The new rules fall far short of Madrid’s earlier proposal to cap interest rates at 54 percent annually and set a minimum 120-day term for such loans.
